Day 1/30. Complete Sucess

Happy Thursday Nov 1, 2012, yes I'm excited to get this started. You will get Pictures of my juicing day. Most of the time a picture can say more than any amount of words can. As I take on this challenge I challenge you to take a healthy challenge as well. Do 1 healthy thing for your self, and do it every day for 30 days. It can be small, is the small changes that end up adding to big wonderful things.

This is how I start my morning. One whole juiced lemon,2 tablespoons cayenne pepper, 30-32 oz warm water. Mixed and set aside until I'm done juicing the daily juice. Remember no drinking until your work are is clean.

Start the day out with a mug of warm water and the juice of half a lemon.

It's so simple and the benefits are just too good to ignore. Warm water with lemon:

1. Boosts your immune system

Lemons are high in Vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is great for fighting colds and potassium stimulates brain and nerve function and helps control blood pressure.

2. Balances pH

Lemons are an incredibly alkaline food, believe it or not. Yes, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they're alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolized). As you wellness warriors know, an alkaline body is really the key to good health.

3. Helps with weight loss

Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet lose weight faster. And, my experience is that when I start the day off right, it's easier to make the best choices for myself the rest of the day.

4. Aids digestion

The warm water serves to stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and peristalsis—the waves of muscle contractions within the intestinal walls that keep things moving. Lemons and limes are also high in minerals and vitamins and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract.

5. Acts as a gentle, natural diuretic

Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials because lemons increase the rate of urination in the body. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.

6. Clears skin

The vitamin C helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well.

7. Hydrates the lymph system

This cup of goodness helps start the day on a hydrated note, which helps prevent dehydration (obviously) and adrenal fatigue. When your body is dehydrated, or deeply dehydrated (adrenal fatigue) it can't perform all of it's proper functions, which leads to toxic buildup, stress, constipation, and the list goes on. Your adrenals happen to be two small glands that sit on top of your kidneys, and along with your thyroid, create energy. They also secrete important hormones, including aldosterone. Aldosterone is a hormone secreted by your adrenals that regulates water levels and the concentration of minerals, like sodium, in your body, helping you stay hydrated. Your adrenals are also responsible for regulating your stress response. So, the bottom line is that you really don't want to mess with a deep state of dehydration! (thanks to MINDBODYGREEN)

Today was a little different I wanted to make a soup with all the pulp from the vegetables. No, not for me (even though I did put some in the freezer for after the fast). but my juices are mainly green juices. they have to be my husband is diabetic and can't do fruity juices to much.  what you have here is:
10 Brussels Sprouts
2 knuckles of ginger
1 small handful of turmeric
3 sprigs of Holy Basil
10 cloves of garlic
4 celery stalks
2 cups of baby spinach
3 cups of baby mixed greens
4 carrots
2 small sweet potatoes
pulp from all vegetables
1 Italian cucumber

low temperature on stove top, seasoned with herbs and spices.

added fruit to complete the daily juice

2 Granny smith apples
2 Valencia Oranges
1/4 Pomelo fruit

And that my friends is what whats for Breakfast, lunch, Dinner. Its almost all organic, Lemons are not and have been peeled before juicing. This batch not only made my daily juice but made my husband's lunch juice, and the pulp was used to make soup for a friend who was not feeling good. I'm saving receipts for this month food. I will add at the end to show you how much $$$ was spent on juicing organic vegetables. Is it worth it yes, I do think so. My health and my husband's  are worth it. not only do I have energy to be active, but I'm getting healthier by the minute. I have been eating very clean for the past month or so. no caffeine, no soda, almost no process foods. Lots of water, green vegetables, fruits.

Day 1 : Has been good. not hungry, no major pain issues,no headaches. I am very thankful today has been positive. I managed to get our stairs cleaned (that had not happen in a very long time at least with the vacuum cleaner, sad to admit that, Hubby has been helping in that). I have Hubby's dinner pre-made, did not want to torture my self on the very first day. Its Meatless Thursday's at our house... he  gets Organic Spinach Ravioli, with a spicy garlic tomato sauce. Steamed Broccoli (left over from last night's dinner) and a huge Romain salad (no dressing, I sprinkle nutritional yeast on it). I'm finishing off my dinner as I'm sitting here typing, have water heating up for a nice cup of hot tea to close the day.... I pray your day was a productive as mine.... Remember do something healthy for your self!!
